Local Spotlight: Bainbridge Island Museum of Art

For this month’s local spotlight, we’ve decided to feature the beautiful Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA). Fortunately for us locals, BIMA is one of the first buildings to greet visitors from around the world as they step off the ferry onto our beautiful island.

BIMA’s mission is to inspire curiosity, wonder and understanding by connecting people with the contemporary art and craft of the Puget Sound region — and that’s exactly what they do.

Since its inception in 2013, BIMA has been inspiring the youth of our region by delivering their artistic vision through educational programs, field trips, hands-on art projects, after-school art clubs, summer camps and much more. In addition to a variety of events and programs, the museum features both established and emerging artists that are sure to leave you awe-struck. There is always something new to discover as BIMA has between 15-20 major exhibitions per year with a focus on artists and collections from the Puget Sound.

We are so honored to have a special organization such as BIMA that is consistently going above and beyond expectations to better our community and inspire our youth. BIMA believes that everyone deserves access to art and through gracious members, is able to provide free general admission to the museum every day. If you haven’t already visited, make sure to add this must-see destination to your itenerary!
