The Grand Forest and the Hilltop Now Project

One of the jewels of Bainbridge Island is the Grand Forest- although strangely enough, when I first moved here I never took the time to check it out. It wasn't until just a few years ago, that a friend of mine took me on a hike through this amazing forest. Beautiful Douglas Firs, Western Red Cedar and an understory of ferns, salal and Oregon grape, set the stage for a peaceful walk or run for the many islanders who visit this place on a daily basis. Now there is a new opportunity. The Hilltop Project is a large parcel of land that the Bainbridge Island Land Trust hopes to purchase to connect both the east and west sections of the Grand Forest.
