Local Spotlight: Bainbridge Island Girls Lacrosse
For this month’s local spotlight, we’re heading to the field.
The Bainbridge Island Girls Lacrosse program has proven year after year to be a wonderful program—providing a place for girls third grade through high school the opportunity to pursue excellence on and off the field (and take home a few championships too).
With dedicated coaching staff, each level is taught by knowledgeable and enthusiastic role models that encourage both individual growth and the importance of teamwork. Their dedication and efforts have certainly payed off in recent years. Two years ago, they secured first place at the Washington State Girls Lacrosse Championship and nearly clenched the title again when they came in second place last year.
The legendary high school team graciously spends extra time outside of practice providing opportunities for possible future players to try out the sport before they commit. Last December, the girls hosted an event “LAX Under the Lights” and hosted more than 65 girls ages 5 through 18 for an evening of fun and games.
If your daughter has been in search of a new sport or activity to try, the lacrosse program is certainly worth checking out. My daughter, Mallory Nelson, plays on the JV squad and has loved her time on the field with her team.
Aside from their excellent performance, this program has established a fantastic community on our island.
Best of luck to the girls during the 2020 season!
