Local Spotlight: Amelia Wynn Winery Bistro

Nestled on the corner of Winslow Way and Ericksen Avenue is where you will find Amelia Wynn Winery and Bistro. Husband & wife team and owners Wendy Armstrong (artist) & Paul Bianchi (vintner) have created a magical combination of warm and inviting ambiance, phenomenal dishes on a rotating menu plus award-winning wines. The staff are friendly, accomodating and always welcoming the guests with a smile.

The menu is full of a variety of unique and intensely flavored dishes as well as house-made desserts all under the direction of Chef Gulsidel Velázquez Ayala, featuring Iberian Peninsula-inspired cuisine, local and seasonal ingredients. There truly is something for everyone on the menu. Whether it be a dinner of small plates of empanadas or olives with house-made focaccia, a vibrant kale salad with quinoa and butternut squash, or one of the remarkable main dishes of Braised Portuguese Country Ribs or my personal favorite, the Amelia Wynn Lasagna, you will all want to come back for seconds. Amelia Wynn also serves lunch so if that’s more your speed, be sure to come by during the weekend. Should you have any room left, the desserts are something to write home about. The last time I was there I tried both the cheesecake and bread pudding with rum sauce. They both were simply amazing.

Now for the wines. These award-winning wines simply must be tasted to understand. Amelia Wynn sources the best quality grapes from over 10 different vineyards in Eastern Washington and follows the process of harvesting closely to ensure their grapes are picked at the optimal time. This involvement and attention to detail shines through in the quality of the wines and I’m not the only one who thinks so. Amelia Wynn Winery has won a multitude of awards going all the way back to 2008. Whether you are in the mood for wine tasting or wine pairing with scrumptious food, Amelia Wynn is the place to go!
