Bainbridge Islands Own Auction & Rummage Sale

The Bainbridge Island Rotary Auction is one of the largest charitable fundraising in the nation.  Thousands descend to Woodward Middle School in search of treasures and bargains.  Great deals are easy to come by and you’re sure to find anything you are hunting for within the acres of furniture, cars, bikes, toys, home wares, fishing equipment and more.

Since 1960, the annual Rotary Auction and Rummage Sale has raised nearly $5 million for service projects. It’s a major recycling event – and it’s also a community volunteer effort that raises a lot of money.

Residents don’t have to look far to see those funds at work. One-third of the proceeds made are allocated to the club’s Major Projects Fund, which may accumulate from year to year. Over the years, that fund has helped build and expand the Library, Bainbridge Commons, Boys & Girls Club, the Don Nakata Pool, the storage barn at Helpline House and Rotary Gateway Park.

The other two-thirds of funds raised are spent each year for ongoing community programs, international work, and smaller projects. Rotary invites funding requests from schools and non-profit groups, evaluates the requests, and makes allocations as funds permit. Thanks to in-kind donations by local businesses and volunteers, Auction and Rummage Sale expenses are kept remarkably low, so the vast majority of money raised can go to service projects and programs.

The event officially starts at 8am, but it is advised that you come early as several thousand avid bargain hunters are expected to attend.

This year, there will be a new Auction & Rummage Sale Raffle that will offer rewarding and exciting prizes.  Raffle tickets only cost $10 each for a chance to win one of these valuable prizes:

10 percent of the total Raffle income up to $2,000
5 percent of the total Raffle income up to $1,000
$500 shopping spree at Town & Country Market
$100 cash

And the good news is there will only be 2,500 tickets sold.  So your odds of winning a prize are very good, especially if you buy more than one ticket!

The drawing to determine the prizewinners will be at 10:00 AM during the Auction & Rummage Sale, which will be held at Woodward Middle School on June 28.  You do not have to be present to claim your winnings.

Also new for this year, the Club has a new program for larger motorboats, yachts and sailboats (20’ to 50’).  These boats will be sold in a live Auction on June 28 from 3 PM until 5 PM at the City Dock located in Eagle Harbor on Bainbridge Island.

If your boat, yacht or sailboat is in the water, it can stay in the water.  If it is not, it must be brought to the City Dock on a trailer, where it can be launched for potential buyers to inspect and for the live Auction.  For more information, CLICK HERE or call either Jim – 206.842.2093 or Tom at 206.780.9001.
